CHEMICAL PEEL

CHEMICAL PEELS

The skin has a natural exfoliating tendency in which old skin cells fall off and new, healthy ones are exposed. Applying a chemical peel begins the process of breaking down the bonds between skin cells on the top layer and speeds up, the process of natural exfoliation. As the skin cells are sloughed off, a layer of fresh new skin is revealed making the skin appear smooth, healthy, and younger than before. The treatment is also effective in reducing imperfections such as fine wrinkles, acne scars, dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and uneven complexion in the skin.

SkinLux MD uses VI Peels which were one of the first chemical peels to be safe in patients of ALL SKIN TYPES providing treatments for both light and dark skin tones. We have six uniquely formulated VI Peel treatments designed to lift pigment, remove sun damage, alleviate acne and scarring, and fight fine lines and wrinkles.

GENERAL INFORMATION

WHAT TO EXPECT

Generally, it takes about 7 days from treatment to complete the whole peeling process.

Skin peeling typically starts around day 2-3 initially near the mid face and then extends outwards.

Any dark spots or hyperpigmented areas may darken prior to peeling off

Avoid picking at the peeling skin as pulling or tugging on it can use damage to the underlying skin leading to hyperpigmentation

VI PEEL CONTENT

The Vi Peel is a proprietary blend of the following ingredients: Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) 12%, Tretinoic acid 0.1%, Salicyclic acid 12%, Phenol 12%, Vitamin C, and a mineral blend. Phenol is a specific ingredient particularly effective for hyperpigmentation.

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

When using any products that cause skin exfoliation such as a retinoid, salicylic acid, or glycolic acid, we recommend that you stop using these products 5 days before. If you have any skin problems in the target area, such as seborrheic dermatitis, cold sores, scratches or eczema, make sure these conditions are under control before your treatment.

TYPES OF VI PEELS

  • Post-care kits are provided with each treatment which included step-by-step instructions for the first 7 days after treatment which should be followed for optimal results.

  • Do not rub, scrub or pick at the skin post peel. If you are peeling, then apply more moisturizer.

  • Use sunscreen in combination with the moisturizer when you are in direct sun.

  • No waxing of the hair in the treated area during the peeling period. It’s okay, however, to carefully thread, pluck or shave.

  • Once you start peeling, be careful with applying makeup as having to remove makeup while the skin is sensitive may cause hyperpigmentation.
